Dragon Band Students & Staff Making a Splash on DCI Summer Tour '17
The Drum Corps International ("DCI") Summer Tours always feature something new, and this summer is no exception: For the first time, eleven current and former Dragon Band members are touring with seven different World Class and Open Class corps ... while two Carroll directors serve on staff for two World Class groups.
In recent years, one or two Dragon Band students have performed with DCI corps each summer. But this year, it's a bumper crop. Current and former Dragons on tour this summer include (alphabetically, by corps):
BLUECOATS: Andrew Cory
THE CADETS: Kodi Myles
GENESIS: Austin Florence, John Miller, Jr.
GUARDIANS: Ryan Guess
OREGON CRUSADERS: Tristan Butcher
SANTA CLARA VANGUARD: Jacob Wilson
TROOPERS: Grace Crews, Cole Deters, Hailey Hodges, and Nathan Pollard.
Additionally, Carroll Guard Director Daphne Adkison works with the Visual Effect staff of The Cavaliers, while Assistant Band Director (Percussion) Jon Maynard serves the Percussion staff of the Santa Clara Vanguard.
About DCI: Known as Marching Music's Major League, Drum Corps International comprises the "best of the best" marching band and colorguard performers from high school and college marching ensembles nationwide. Auditions, which begin in late fall and continue through the spring, are rigorous ... and highly competitive.
The Dragon Band family proudly salutes every one of these students and directors as they tour the U.S. this summer, competing at the highest levels. Visit www.dci.org to find a DCI Tour event near you, or to learn more about DCI.
