The Jazz program at Carroll Senior High School has been active and vibrant since the 1970’s. Jazz ensembles at Carroll have been very successful at contests around the State of Texas and around the United States.

 

The Jazz Orchestra was selected as the 2014 Texas Music Educators Association Invited High School Jazz Ensemble, earning a featured performance at the 2014 TMEA Convention in San Antonio. The Jazz Orchestra has also been a Finalist at the prestigious Essentially Ellington Competition in New York City in 2007, 2010, 2014 and 2018. At the 2018 Essentially Ellington Finals, the band won five Outstanding Soloist awards, the award for Outstanding Trumpet Section, and 7th place overall.

 

Graduates of the Carroll Jazz program have gone on to study jazz at major institutions such as the University of Southern California, the University of North Texas, Berklee College of Music, Belmont and many others.

 

Students from the Carroll Jazz Program perform frequently around the Southlake area in small combos. The Gigs for Donations program allows students the opportunity to build their performance and organizational skills, as well as maintaining and developing relationships with the Southlake community.
